Basic Oral Communication - Extra Credit Opportunities

 1)  The Clarksville Child Development Center (CDI) is looking for people willing to come read to the children.  If you plan to do this option, I would suggest that you get a book from the children's section of Robson library and practice with it at least a couple of times, including practice showing the pictures.  When reading to children, it is especially important to use vocal variety and to pace your voice so they will be able to understand what you are saying.  If you go to read to the children, have the child's teacher sign the form certifying that you did it, and you will receive 10 points extra credit.  To be fair, I can only give points for one reading session; however, if you want to continue to go and read to the children, it makes GREAT community service hours (if you need those for a scholarship)!!!

The best hours for reading are 8-11 a.m. or 2-4:30 p.m.  For more information, contact me or Becky Burk at CDI.
