How to configure your computer to automatically check for updates:

Windows 2000:

1. Click on "Start," then "Settings," and "Control Panel."

2. Locate the icon labeled "Automatic Updates." Double-click on the icon to open the "Automatic Updates" configuration window.

3. On the configuration window, check the box labled "Keep my computer up to date."

4. Under "Settings," select the option to "Automatically download the updates and install them on the schedule I specify."

5. Select the frequency at which you'd like to install the updates, then select the time you'd like the updates to occur.

6. Click "Ok" to close the configuration box and put your changes into effect.

Please note that in order for the updates to occur, your computer MUST be turned on. Some updates will require your computer to be restarted, so it is a good idea to close any open programs before the scheduled update begins.

Windows XP:


1. Click "Start," then "Control Panel."

2. Click "Performance and Maintenance," then click "System."

3. Choose the "Automatic Updates" tab.

4. Check the box labeled "Keep my computer up to date."

5. Under "Settings," select the option to "Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule I specify."

6. Choose the frequency and time at which you'd like to install the updates.

7. Click "Ok" to put your changes into effect.

Remember, your computer MUST be turned on at the time you've selected in order for your updates to be downloaded and installed. Some updates will require your computer to restart so it is a good idea to close any open programs before the scheduled update starts.
