If you are a student and you want to purchase a new computer to use on the campus network, you should consider purchasing a system with a minimum of 1 GB of RAM, an 80 GB hard-drive, a 10/100 Ethernet port, and an Intel Celeron or Core Duo Processor - or it's equivalent. Computer Services also recommends you purchase an extended warranty on your system as well.
Discounts
The University has entered into an agreement with Dell Computer Corporation that entitles students, faculty, and staff to purchase a Dell computer at a discounted rate. To learn more about the Dell University Program, see the Dell website at http://www.dell.com/html/us/segments/sdu/index_sdu.htm?member_id=US2427251
Software
Regardless of what system you purchase, Computer Services recommends that you also purchase the Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 Professional application suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook). All computers connected to the Ozarks Campus Network must be running up-to-date anti-virus software. Anti-spyware software is also recommended.
