Sternotherus odoratusi

Description: Stinkpots are usually 3.25-4.5 inches long and their carapaces are usually smooth, except juveniles, which usually have 3 keels.  They are usually olive-brown to dark gray in color with two light stripes on their head and barbells on their chin and throat.  Stinkpots are usually feisty.

Habitat: Stinkpots are usually found in freshwater, slow-moving, shallow, and muddy-bottomed waters.  This stinkpot was found swimming just below main street bridge in Spadra Creek in Clarksville, AR.
